Frequently Asked Questions about Intermittent Fasting

The fame and popularity of Intermittent Fasting are still growing and it has many health benefits when applied correctly.

It remains a much-discussed topic, which is why we have compiled the 6 most frequently asked questions for you in this article.

1. Do you need to take an occasional break with IF?

You don’t have to, but you certainly can! It is important to listen to what your body needs. Intermittent Fasting is not a diet, but a lifestyle that you can apply flexibly.

So, if you do want to eat breakfast one day, go right ahead!

2. Is Intermittent Fasting suitable for everyone?

No! If applied correctly, Intermittent Fasting can provide enormous health benefits. However, this does not mean that it is healthy for everyone to start.

If you are under a lot of stress, are pregnant, have thyroid problems, a hormonal imbalance, have an eating disorder, or suffer from a chronic illness, we always recommend that you have one of our therapists look into it with you via a consultation.

3. Can I take supplements while fasting?

Most supplements are best absorbed during a meal, so you can take them with your first meal. It is best to take magnesium separately from a meal, and it does not break the fast.

Fish collagen is also best absorbed away from a meal, but it does break the fast. Therefore, please take this 30 minutes before your first meal, preferably.

4. Can I only drink herbal tea, or black tea as well during the fast?

During the period you are fasting, you may drink water, tea, and coffee. In addition to herbal tea, this can also be black tea! If you drink coffee, please ensure that you only drink black coffee during fasting periods.

5. What different forms of Intermittent Fasting are there?

• 14/10, 16/8 and 18/6: Three methods where you eat within a certain timeframe during the day and not during the remaining time. You can also build this up.

• 5/2: You do IF for five days and not on the other two days, for example on the weekend.

• Stop-fast-stop: 2 days not fasting, 1 day fasting

• Alternate: 1 day fasting, 1 day not, 1 day fasting, etc.

6. How do I start Intermittent Fasting?

The most popular method of Intermittent Fasting is 16/8. You eat for a period of 8 hours and you fast for the remaining 16 hours. This does not mean that this is the only method, however.
